SVG not working v1.0.1

Cannot get this to work loading an SVG from assets directory

     **TS file**

     this.image = {
        svg: '/assets/ecg/svg/' + result.svg
     }
     
     **HTML file**

     <!-- img tag will render svg  --> 
     <img [src]="image.svg"/>
              
      <!-- ngx-image-zoom will not render svg -->

      <lib-ngx-image-zoom [thumbImage]="image.svg" [fullImage]="image.svg" [maxZoomRatio]=1  
          [enableScrollZoom]="true" zoomMode=hover [enableLens]=true [lensWidth]=200 
          [lensHeight]=200 [magnification]="2">
      </lib-ngx-image-zoom>

Will work fine with a JPG but I need to render an SVG
