Not clear what happens after publishing a product

There's confusion about the product publishing workflow and its relationship to overall store visibility:

• What happens immediately after clicking "Publish"?
• Is the product visible to customers right away?
• What's the relationship between publishing individual products and launching the entire store?
• When do customers start seeing products?

Currently, users have to guess about these visibility states. Perhaps a clearer explanation of the publishing flow and visibility states would help users feel more confident when building their store.
