Opt in anonymous project disclosure

What are you trying to do that you can't?

Our privacy policy is quite restrictive right now, basically never allowing disclosure of a project someone has created. That means we can't show off the cool things that people do.

What is your idea?

It would be nice if there was some way for creators to say "Sure, you can use my project anonymously in research and communications about the project". This could just be the same as "public", but perhaps we want to differentiate those, because sharing with the platform maintainers is different from sharing with everyone.

After researching how to get consent to kids out in effective and easy to understand manner. I decided we could do one way via online where there is a pop up after the app opens for first time users with a stop sign asking if the person would like to opt for their usage to be anonymously entered to our project's research and or communication efforts when discussing wordplay. In a small note we could say that: clicking opt out after clicking opt in does not remove the data you’ve done prior from our records, just the data after you’ve done after clicking opt out. And then of course the option no. And an option of I don’t understand, which could alert the teacher. Another way to get this message out is having the teacher tell the students what opt in and opt out means. This screen is where the pop up could occur. This would differentiate from the public feature meaning people who are public to their peers can decide to opt in or out.

Thanks for the design proposal @xoxofvxoxo! A few comments:

• A good design proposal includes a sketch of the design. The screenshot above is helpful to show where it would appear, but it doesn't show what would appear.
• We don't use popups on the platform because they are generally far less accessible for screen reader users.
• Why the home page? And why ask every user? The goal isn't to get every user to accept, just to enable them to give permission if they want to. Why aggressively ask every creator, instead of just adding a project setting somewhere?
