As sqlparser-rs gets quite a lot of changes (i.e. apache/datafusion-sqlparser-rs#1406 ), catching up to it in a manual manner seems to be quite a tedious task. Are there any blockers that would allow to automatically build once new sqlparser-rs release is available?

Not really, if (admittedly quite basic) test suite passes the release can be cut via automation. I do typically take a look at the CHANGELOG upstream when I do bumps to make sure there are no breaking API changes, that is the only real risk.
