DNS is only pushed on iOS if default route is enabled

I am using ZeroTier version 1.12.2 on my iPhone 14 (iOS 17.2) and recognized, that DNS settings from my network are only being used when I enabled "default route" within the app.
If default route is not enabled no DNS config is being pushed from ZeroTier config to iOS.
