Question on ZODB License #389
Comments

Does ZODB compatible to be used by Apache 2.0 or MIT licensed software?
I understand this as a license question.
The ZODB is covered by the following license
"https://github.com/zopefoundation/ZODB/blob/master/LICENSE.txt" --
a very liberal license.

The ZODB is governed by the OSI-certified Zope Public License version 2.1. See https://opensource.org/license/zpl-2-1/. I can't say anything about license compatibility and none of us are lawyers. |
I'm not a lawyer. The FSF says Zope Public License, versions 2.0 and 2.1 are compatible with GPL. As MIT licence has less constraint than GPL (whatever chosen version), I think it's enough to be compatible with MIT. Apache licence is also a permissive licence but it's much longer to read and has special conditions like revoking the licence in case of software patent use in court. As ZPL has no clause about software patent, I guess there are no incompatibility on such point. I'm still not a lawyer. |
