Describe the bug

Multiple windows of BOINC can overwrite the computers list without preserving the saved computers by others.

Steps to reproduce

Before starting, make sure there is at least one computer saved in the list. You can get this done by connecting to a computer and then disconnect.

  1. Run BOINC manager.
  2. Open a new window and enter a new hostname that's not shown in the list (drop down menu).
  3. After connecting to the new computer, exit the BOINC window connecting to that computer.
  4. (Optional) Observe 2 computers are saved in the config (on Windows, it's in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C. Berkeley\BOINC Manager\ComputerMRU of the Registry)

Image

  1. Exit the original BOINC window.
  2. Observe 2 computer entries in the config has been modified to be the same computer. Or you can see duplicated hostname when you try to connect to a remote computer on BOINC manager.

Expected behavior

It should keep 2 different hostnames rather 2 duplicated hostnames

System information

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro
  • BOINC: 8.0.4
