I did two things in one here, apologies.

Firstly, I added some new fonts to the page. The main one is Barlow, a friendly but familiar open-source Grotesk font that still gives us a little bit of unique feeling.

For just the heading text, I went with Instrument, a display serif that really harkens back to those old Macintosh ads (see below for comparison), simultaneously giving a little bit of a nerdy feel while also adhering to something that's just broadly trendy right now.

Separately to all that, and again I apologise for putting both of these in one, I've re-worded some of the stuff on the homepage.

  1. I changed "Hacknights for everyone" to "Community for public good." I also thought about "Space to learn and collaborate", but I was worried it was too generic. I think this might be a situation where perfect could be the enemy of good - I am not totally in love with what I put here, but I think it's a step in the right direction.
  2. I just added more detail to the body text here to emphasize some of the things we've worried don't come clearly across. I added an explicit reference to the fact that this community is not only for people with tech backgrounds, and I also clearly explained that we are hybrid and what that means.
  3. Perhaps most controversially, I subbed out the word "Hacknight" for "events" in a few places. This is by no means getting rid of that word yet, but I just feel like we can drop it in a few places without making too many waves.

@jordyarms I realize I made a mistake here, and didn't commit the CSS along with my fonts. As a result, what I've actually committed here will only affect the changes to the text on the homepage, and not the styling. With that in mind, can we proceed here and hold the typographic discussion to a different thread?
