  • When session attendees were being created, their IDs were not being propagated to the following documents that contain info on all attendees:
    • All activityPreferences docs in the session's subtree store were not updated with the camper's ID for storing preferences
    • The session doc's attendeeIds field was not being updated
  • Updated both of these documents in the transactio in the createAttendees Cloud Function

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

This change adds Firestore CRUD and pagination helpers for sections, schedules, and activity preferences. Attendee creation now validates roles and coordinates attendee, schedule, session, and employee days-off updates within a transaction.

Changes

Section and attendee data flow

Layer / File(s) Summary
Section data access
functions/src/data/firestore/sections.ts
Adds snapshot mapping and CRUD helpers for section documents. List operations support pagination and transactions.
Schedule and preference data access
functions/src/data/firestore/sectionSchedules.ts, functions/src/data/firestore/activityPreferences.ts
Adds snapshot mapping and CRUD helpers for schedules and activity preferences. Collection paths use the session section hierarchy.
Attendee transaction coordination
functions/src/features/sessions/attendeeManagement.ts, src/utils/data/unique.ts
Attendee creation validates roles, creates attendee documents, updates section schedules and session attendee IDs, initializes employee days-off entries, and removes duplicate array values.

Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~45 minutes

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to e7c88

Attendee synchronization is not ready to merge because creating only camper attendees can fail entirely when the session has no days-off document. Skip the days-off update when no employee attendees are accepted.

In `@functions/src/data/firestore/sections.ts`:
- Line 7: Replace the moment import and Moment-based section date types with
dayjs equivalents throughout the section mapper and its dependent date usage,
including startDate, endDate, and publishedAt in CommonSection and
SchedulingSection, so all values share the dayjs type consistently.

In `@functions/src/data/firestore/sectionSchedules.ts`:
- Line 19: Update both schedule document references in the section schedule
helper to use SectionsSubcollection.SCHEDULE instead of
SectionsSubcollection.ACTIVITY_PREFERENCES, keeping the existing session,
section, and document identifiers unchanged.

In `@functions/src/features/sessions/attendeeManagement.ts`:
- Line 110: Update the attendee creation flow around createAttendeeDoc to track
only attendee IDs whose documents were actually created after the role check,
then pass that filtered collection to updateSessionDoc’s attendeeIds arrayUnion;
alternatively reject role mismatches before updating, but do not union IDs for
skipped attendees.
- Around line 33-34: Update the attendee-management transaction to construct the
activity-preferences and section-schedule queries first, then read both through
transaction.get(query) instead of calling Query.get(). Ensure these transaction
reads occur before updateActivityPreferencesDoc and other writes, while
preserving the existing document mapping and query filters.

In `@functions/src/features/sessions/attendeeManagement.ts`:
- Line 55: Await the mapped Firestore writes by returning Promise.all from both
createAttendeeDocs and addAttendeesToSectionSchedules in
functions/src/features/sessions/attendeeManagement.ts at lines 55 and 104, so
rejected createAttendeeDoc or updateActivityPreferencesDoc promises propagate to
the transaction callback.
