This should be left up to the app to decide. Disabling the image cache causes a lot of additional internet traffic, which probably nobody wants. Big cache sizes of e.g. 512MB use too much disk space, which is not desired either. So this option was probably not touched by any users and is therefore just making things more complex.
This should be left to the app to decide, not the user. I.e. we should take care of finding a good default value that doesn't get us ratelimited instead of leaving the choice to the user.
