`j` was incremented but never read. GCC 16 reports it with `-Wunused-but-set-variable`, which breaks `dev_mode=yes` (`werror=yes`) builds. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The typed `Dictionary[...]` branch of `VariantParser::parse_value()` didn't forward `p_allow_objects` when parsing its key type, value type, and values, so they always fell back to `false`. Scenes with a typed Dictionary holding Resources (e.g. `Dictionary[int, Texture2D]`) saved correctly but then failed to load with "Parse Error: Unauthorized". `Dictionary[int, Resource]` and script-typed keys/values failed the same way even when empty. Forward the flag like the typed `Array[...]` branch already does. Fixes Redot-Engine#1431. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

_parse_dictionarydecodes keys and values through separateparse_valuecalls. The added object test uses an integer key, so it exercises only the value call. TheResourcekey test has no entries. Ifp_allow_objectsis omitted from the key call, an object key can fail withERR_UNAUTHORIZEDwhile all current assertions pass.Suggested fix

Fixes #1431.
Problem
Scenes with an exported typed Dictionary holding Resources (e.g.
@export var d: Dictionary[int, Texture2D], orGodot.Collections.Dictionary<int, Texture2D>in C#) save correctly but fail to load:This isn't specific to C#; it reproduces with GDScript too.
Cause
The typed
Dictionary[...]branch ofVariantParser::parse_value()doesn't forwardp_allow_objectsto the three nested parse calls (key type, value type, and the values themselves), so they always fall back to the defaultfalse. The text scene loader passesallow_objects = true, but the flag gets dropped inside the typed Dictionary and the nestedSubResource/ExtResourceis rejected withERR_UNAUTHORIZED. The typedArray[...]branch right below already forwards the flag, which is whyArray[Texture2D]works.The same bug also breaks
Dictionary[int, Resource],Dictionary[Resource, ...], and script-typed keys/values even when the dictionary is empty, because the bareResourcetype name goes through the sameparse_value()call.Fix
Forward
p_allow_objectsin those three calls, the same way theArray[...]branch does. Whenallow_objectsisfalse, behavior is unchanged: nested objects are still rejected withERR_UNAUTHORIZED.Testing
@export var d: Dictionary[int, Texture2D], added an entry with aGradientTexture2D, saved, closed and reopened. Onmasterit fails with the error above; with this PR it reopens with the texture intact.[Variant] Parser typed dictionary with objectstotests/core/variant/test_variant.h, covering object values (rejected withallow_objects = false, parsed withtrue), aResourcekey type, and aResourcevalue type. It fails without the fix and passes with it. The full unit test suite passes.Note: separate build fix commit
The first commit (
Remove unused loop variable in EditorPropertySizeFlags::setup()) is unrelated to #1431. GCC 16 reports that variable with-Wunused-but-set-variable, which breaksdev_mode=yesbuilds. I kept it as its own commit so it can be dropped or split into a separate PR if you prefer.AI disclosure

Summary by CodeRabbit
Resource-typed keys or values now consistently follow the selected object-decoding permission. Parsing is rejected when object decoding is disabled and succeeds when it is enabled, including for nested dictionary contents. Empty typed dictionaries also retain their declaredResourcekey or value type.
