CMAQv5.3
CMAQv5.3, the latest version of the Community Multiscale Air Quality modeling system (release date August 27 2019), includes many new scientific and use-oriented features.
Science Features:
- Updated chlorine chemistry
- Updated OMI data through 2017, new photolysis relevant diagnostic variables exported (e.g. AOD, single-scattering albedo, etc)
- Extended Kinetic Mass Transfer Module for cloud chemistry (KMT2; optional)
- Consolidated anthropogenic secondary organic aerosol into reduced number of species
- Revised biogenic secondary organic aerosol yields for alpha-pinene ozonolysis to substantially increase monoterpene derived SOA predicted by the model.
- Added water uptake by organic compounds
- Revised deposition parameterizations for gas and aerosol uptake.
- Introduced STAGE model which treats tiled deposition fluxes as a function of all land use types in a grid cell (optional).
User-Oriented Features:
- New comprehensive User's Guide now available!
- Improved and expanded capabilities for the Integrated Source Apportionment Method (ISAM).
- Introduced new Detailed Emission Scaling, Isolation, and Diagnostics module (DESID).
- Revised log file for enhanced transparency and clarity.
- Introduced vertical extraction module for isolating, for example, ozone sonde data without printing full 4D grid.
- Improved process analysis with Integrated Reaction Rate (IRR) functionality for all mechanisms and aerosol sub-process accounting.
See the Release Notes for more details regarding these updates.
