Scores breaking news by how many independent, credible outlets corroborate it rather than simply asserting whether a claim is true.
Approach — RSS + GDELT ingestion → MiniLM sentence embeddings → cosine clustering → confidence scoring → FastAPI + live dashboard.
Stack — Python FastAPI sentence-transformers SQLite
Engineering — semantic clustering, scheduled ingestion, deduplication, REST APIs and automated tests.
🧾 Longhand — auditable AI tax assistant
Built with one teammate for the AMD Developer Hackathon (ACT II). Every calculated figure can be traced back to the rule and input that generated it.
Approach — deterministic Python for calculations, with the AI layer used for grounded explanation rather than computing tax figures.
