Summary of Changes

Hello, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request ensures that the Strimzi operator installation in the cloud deployment script uses a fixed version. By replacing the 'latest' installation URL with a direct link to version 0.50.1, the change prevents potential inconsistencies or breaking changes that could arise from automatic updates to the operator, thereby improving the reliability and predictability of deployments.

Highlights

  • Strimzi Operator Version Pinning: The deploy.sh script was updated to explicitly install Strimzi operator version 0.50.1 by referencing its specific GitHub release URL, rather than using the generic 'latest' installation link.
Changelog
  • examples/cloud-deployment/scripts/deploy.sh
    • Updated the kubectl create -f command to install Strimzi operator version 0.50.1 from its specific release URL.
    • Commented out the previous command that used the generic https://strimzi.io/install/latest URL.
Activity
  • No activity (comments, reviews, progress) was found for this pull request.

Code Review

This pull request attempts to pin the Strimzi operator version, which is a good practice for reproducible deployments. However, the version specified (0.50.1) appears to be invalid, which will cause the deployment script to fail. Additionally, there is a commented-out line that should be removed for code clarity.

echo "Installing Strimzi operator..."
kubectl create -f 'https://strimzi.io/install/latest?namespace=kafka' -n kafka
kubectl create -f 'https://github.com/strimzi/strimzi-kafka-operator/releases/download/0.50.1/strimzi-cluster-operator-0.50.1.yaml?namespace=kafka' -n kafka
# kubectl create -f 'https://strimzi.io/install/latest?namespace=kafka' -n kafka

This commented-out code should be removed to improve script clarity. The version control system already maintains a history of these changes if you need to reference the previous command.
