InitializeTenancyByOriginHeader::getDomain() passed the literal string 'null' (the serialization of an opaque origin, sent by browsers for e.g. sandboxed iframes) to the resolver as a hostname. A request with Origin: null identified a tenant whose domain is 'null'. It's now treated like a missing header. Origin: null.localhost and https://null.localhost still identify that tenant.
For malformed URLs such as http://, http:///foo and https://:80, parse_url() returns false, which the ?? fallback kept, so the assert() failed with an AssertionError. That bypassed $onFail and resulted in a
500. Without assertions enabled, returning false from a string method throws a TypeError instead. These are now treated like a missing header too, so $onFail applies, and universal routes fall back to the central context.
Origin: 0 was previously treated as a missing header because '0' is falsy. It's now treated as a hostname like any other scheme-less value, consistent with #1501 making '0' a valid domain.
A test in 'origin identification can be used with universal routes' meant to send no Origin header, but withHeader() persisted the previous request's header. It now calls flushHeaders().

Bug Fixes
Improved handling of malformed or opaque Origin values, preventing them from incorrectly identifying a tenant.
Requests with invalid Origin values now follow the configured failure response, while universal routes continue to work for supported Origin cases.

The middleware validates Origin values before extracting a host. Tests cover malformed and opaque Origin values, tenant identification for a null domain, and central responses from universal routes.

Summary
Origin parsing and request outcomes src/Middleware/InitializeTenancyByOriginHeader.php, tests/OriginHeaderIdentificationTest.php
The middleware validates Origin values and returns a parsed host, the original value, or an empty string. Tests cover malformed and opaque values, tenant identification, and universal-route responses.
archtechx/tenancy#1501: It changes empty-domain handling in the tenant resolver and tests Origin-header behavior.

Explanation
The title names the main change: the origin middleware no longer accepts the 'null' Origin value or malformed Origin URLs. The raw summary and PR objectives both describe this change to InitializeTenancyByOriginHeader::getDomain and the related tests. The title also says '[4.x]', which names the target branch and does not change the meaning. It does not mention the secondary change that Origin: 0 is treated as a hostname, or the flushHeaders() test fix, but a title does not need to list every detail.
