What

Adds a note under GPU selection in docs/user/USAGE.md: NVIDIA driver 610.47 on Windows can crash in its shader compiler while pipelines are created, and 617.42 does not.

The crash is in the driver, not in AnyPS5 code: 0xc0000005, a read of address 0x8 at nvgpucomp64.dll+0x2d563c1, on an unnamed driver thread, with no AnyPS5 frame on that thread.

Run (PPSA25344, New Game, RTX 3060 12 GB, i5-12400F, Windows 10 19045) Driver Result
cold pipeline cache 610.47 crash at t+342 s
warm pipeline cache 610.47 crash at t+250 s, same address
APS5_NO_PIPELINE_LTO=1 610.47 crash at t+250 s, same address
same build, same env 617.42 ran the full 2,410 s, past the intro cutscene

An RTX 4060 on 616.56 and an RTX 5070 Laptop on 616.92 never hit it on the same scene.

Tested

  • tools/check_conventions.py --base origin/main passes. Documentation only.

Checked the note against main: the FATAL: unhandled exception 0x... and rip lines come from CrashReport.cpp, APS5_NO_PIPELINE_LTO is read in PipelineLibrary.cpp, and the numbers match the table in the description. Documentation only, conventions green; merging.
