Example Applications

This page is a work-in-progress to encourage individuals to use TMA for his or her own flavor of corpora exploration/analysis.

TMA Application Example: Finding research papers/subjects of interest at a specific institution

  1. Grab faculty names at Princeton CS department: https://gist.github.com/2969999 (or this can be done manually)

  2. Under the arXiv data upload option, paste the names as the python code in (1) printed them (with "OR" between each name) and highlight all of the CS fields

  3. Select e.g. CTM under "Model" and 25 topics, click "analyze," wait approximately 3 minutes

  4. Interactively explore the research topics: http://geordi.cs.uiowa.edu/tma/princetoncsexmp/ctm/topic-list/

  5. The interactive document force graph is especially helpful for finding research topics: http://geordi.cs.uiowa.edu/tma/princetoncsexmp/ctm/relationships/

  6. Hover-over/click-on the green node in the legend to see the "topic model" topic, which shows the papers and names of possible researchers someone with a "topic model" interest might enjoy perusing, e.g. a graduate or undergraduate student seeking a possible research adviser.
