Import of the full history and tree

Can we get a full import of the kernel history including all commits instead of a single commit containing all of the source?

It would be useful to help with porting the drivers to a modern kernel (say, 4.16.2).

If at all possible this would be very useful. Is there any non-git-history information about the provenance of this tree (pointers to mediatek/aosp discussions/repos, etc.?)

What is currently present is sufficient to comply with the GPL, but the history is also extremely valuable. The history would give insight into why some changes were done. How much of the code is baseline for all MediaTek devices (and may be unnecessary to the Gemini) has value. Given how open-source friendly Planet Computers looks on the surface I would think you could provide this.

Also, why is there a separate gemini-android-kernel-3.18-android8 repository? What is in there should be a commit in this repository and "android8" should be a tag or branch.
