this attempts to fix #1 and maybe also #2.
Tested on latest MacOS Tahoe - build with Claude Code (so take it for what it is: a very rough prototype of a solution). I am myself not a swift developer so I can't tell if the code is any good, but in practice it at least seems to fix all issues I ever had with Gridded.
