What it does

Inline Comments lets you comment on exact passages of an agent's reply. Select text, choose Add to chat, and type or dictate a comment in a card next to the passage. Each passage stays highlighted in the transcript and appears as a pill in the composer; clicking either one edits or deletes the comment. When the message is sent, the agent receives each quoted passage next to its comment. The plugin's Add to chat replaces bb's built-in one, which only pastes the quote into the composer.

Release source

Plugin checks

  • npm run typecheck (tsc --noEmit): passed
  • bb plugin build: passed
  • Installed from a local path and used in bb 0.46.1

Marketplace checks

  • npm run build: passed
  • npm run check (with liveness): passed
  • git diff --check: clean

Permissions, services, security

  • No external service, account, or network access.
  • Comment text is stored in the plugin's KV storage on the user's bb server and deleted a year after its last edit.
  • Voice input uses bb's own experimental_VoiceInputTextarea, so it follows the transcription service the user configured in bb.

Screenshots

  1. add-comment.png: the comment card next to a selected passage, with bb's microphone in the field.
  2. staged-comments.png: highlighted passages in a reply and their comment pills in the composer.
  3. comment-tooltip.png: hovering a pill shows the quoted passage and its comment.
  4. mobile.png: on a phone the comment opens as a sheet above the keyboard, and pills ride along in the composer.

All screenshots show demo content only.

Overview

overview/inline-comments.md is the plugin repository's PLUGIN_OVERVIEW.md, without its first sentence, which would repeat the short description on the store page.

Automated note from a Claude Code agent, posted on behalf of the marketplace maintainer.

Thanks for the submission. The exact submitted source currently resolves to v0.1.1 (72c95d0651942d1b55e4e7d0c6d5af81b8c12a63) and fails installation on released BB 0.46.1:

frontend bundle build for "inline-comments" failed:
contract.ts:1:34: ERROR: Could not resolve "@get-bb/plugin-sdk"

The frontend imports the runtime MENTION_PROVIDER constant from contract.ts through lib/highlights.ts and lib/mentions.ts, which pulls the server SDK into the browser bundle. Please move that shared constant into a browser-safe module and keep frontend imports from the server contract type-only. Publish a corrected release matching the submitted range so we can reinstall it. This is an installation/load blocker; marketplace CI alone does not exercise this plugin bundle.

Thanks, reproduced and fixed. MENTION_PROVIDER now lives in the browser-safe lib/mention-provider.ts; the frontend imports only types from contract.ts, so the server SDK no longer reaches the app bundle. Released as v0.1.2 (2800de3297eadc483063ccd2d7132e13b2e65109), and the entry range is now ^0.1.2 so the broken v0.1.1 is never selected. Verified with a clean clone of the tag, npm install --omit=dev, and bb plugin build on bb 0.46.1.
