Paint Colors
This document details the recommended paint colors, as well as a proposed source of paint, for your robot build.
Paint colors were matched using actual screen-used robot parts to determine the best possible recommendations.
All of the samples in the photo below represent 3 coats of the color, followed by 3 coats of a clear matte.
The recommended Silver is Mazda Emerald Silver 2E and is available from Everest Automotive Market. Click here to go to the paint color.
The recommended Blue is 1986-1989 Corvette C4 Bright Blue and is available from Mid America Motorworks. Click here to go to the paint color.
The recommended black / dark color for other highlights is Mitsubishi Kaiser Silver H39, PSB and is available from Everest Automotive Market. Click here to go to the paint color.
You may have good luck using the following for Primer and the clear coat:
- Rust-oleum Automotive Primer (12 oz. aerosol)
- Rust-oleum Matte Clear Enamel (12 oz. aerosol)
Since the older style orange anodized neck cylinders are hard to come by, we recommend using the following paint over the newer style cylinders of the same size. Mask off the shaft or disassemble the cylinder, and insert screws into the holes so that the threads don't get painted.
