CastleBlocks Guide

This page contains all the information you need to start using CastleBlocks.

Castle Bricks

Castle bricks are special types of building blocks that cannot be easily mined by other players. When you place or create a castle brick block, you become the owner of that block. For you, the block can be broken easily, but for any other player the block will be nearly unbreakable.

Applications

CastleBlocks is meant to be used in situations to prevent easy griefing. Eg. Letting you be able to make cool looking castles in PvP servers that can't just be mined into during a fight. Rules may need to be added on a server to restrict the usage of griefing using Castle Bricks, as they may easily be abused by bad actors.

Creating Castle Bricks

To create castle bricks, you will need to create a trowel with one iron ingot and one stick. Netherite trowels are created via a netherite ingot and a diamond trowel in a smithing table.

Trowel Crafting

You can right click on certain blocks with the trowel to turn them into castle bricks.

  • Stone -> Castle Bricks
  • Polished Andesite -> Andesite Castle Bricks
  • Polished Diorite -> Diorite Castle Bricks
  • Polished Granite -> Granite Castle Bricks
  • Cut Sandstone (any sandstone in 1.7.10) -> Sandstone Castle Bricks

Added after version 1.0.4

  • Polished Blackstone -> Blackstone Castle Bricks
  • Deepslate -> Deepslate Castle Bricks
  • Nether Bricks -> Nether Castle Bricks

Right clicking on any type of castle brick with the trowel will tell you who owns that brick.

Differences in version

There are some subtle differences between the Fabric and Forge versions, they are listed below:

  • Ownership indication

The information displayed from right-clicking with a trowel is subtly different between Fabric and Forge,

Forge 1.7.10 displays the ownership of a castle brick via the chat log. Only you can see this message.

Fabric 1.16+ versions of CastleBlocks Fabric display the indicator above the hotbar.

  • Particle effects

All Fabric version's of CastleBlocks creates particle effects on trowelling, this is not present in the Forge version.

  • Entrenchment

After logging off and back on using the Forge 1.7.10 version, either client or server, you will not be able to break your previously placed castle bricks. They are considered "entrenched" in the world and will be impossible to break for anyone unless removed in creative mode or exploded. Pssst.. castle bricks make great looking ruins!
