Summary

AR (Adaptive Roads) mod does 2 things

  • Improve Road asset editor UI to make it easier to design roads.
  • Add extension flags/fields on the top of the current flags for more (optional)

Application summary

Here I explain a short summary of the things this mod can do. follow the links to the right of the page to get more info. You can also play around with the mod and PAY ATTENTION to the floating Hint-box to see how to explore what features it has and how use them. Please don't hesitate to ask me questions on discord.

  1. Vanilla mode (Improved asset editor): In this mode AR will provide you with improved asset editor. Players will NOT need AR to use your roads. Simply go to options and TURN ON "Vanilla mode". These improvements include:
    • Preserve original road names: AR has fixed the base game's naming issues so you can update your roads in the workshop without the need to worry about naming conflicts. You don't need to do anything. When AR is enabled, road names do not change unintentionally.
    • Rename roads: you can easily view/rename all elevations/pillars at once.
    • Improved Asset editor: I have made various improvement to make asset editor easier to use such as: Better flag drop-downs | Create prop presets | copy paste props | etc . All of these are available in vanilla mode.
    • Help: A floating hint box will give you help about hotkeys, flags, or the UI elements.
  2. AR mode: this mode has all the features from vanilla mode + extra flags. Your roads will have OPTIONAL requirement for Adaptive Roads Mod. Players can still use your roads in vanilla mode but your roads can be more beautiful if player uses the AR mod. you can use the Vanilla flag to control how your road looks when user does not use the AR mode. Simply go to options and TURN OFF "Vanilla mode".
    • TMPE flags: your roads can change props/textures based on TMPE rules
    • Custom flags: you can define your own custom flags to give your roads different skins (or whatever else you can come up with!). Players can use in-game AR tool to change custom flags.
    • Custom Connect groups: useful for medians or custom tracks.
    • Quay roads
    • and more ...

Add extension flags/properties

Nods, segments, and props get extra flags to use for more flexibility. for example, you can use TMPE flags for yield/stop props.

Road editor UI

the mod makes it easier to design roads by allowing you to do operations on props:

  • save/load a group of props as a template. the template can be edited outside of CS.
  • create left-hand traffic duplicate
  • rotate backward
  • copy props to other elevations
  • show hint about what each flag does
  • display a summary of prop flags on hover
  • highlight hovered props

lane is highlighted when you hover over a lane:

prop is highlighted and a summary is displayed when you hover over prop:

you can perform various operations when you click over props:

a hint is displayed when you move the mouse over flags:
