Thank you, Mattia. Could you please provide an example where your new algorithm is demonstrably faster? I am also interested in knowing whether this brings any performance changes for the optimization if the edges are not the same. Also, could you please remove the whitespace changes from your commit?, mainly in internal.py?

I have introduced some changes in order to speed up the creation of NX graph for very large systems, hope it is useful.
