I build and maintain the AWS infrastructure and delivery pipelines that keep backend services running, and I write the services themselves when needed.
Most of the work is deciding trade-offs: what is worth automating, which complexity is not worth paying for yet, and how to make a change reach production safely in an environment where uncontrolled deployment is not an option. I prefer systems that are simple to operate and easy to observe over systems that are clever.
