Hi, thanks for your contribution, and apologies for the delay in the reply, since I only recently got back to work after my holiday break. I'll review the changes in the next few days, but to be honest I'm not sure about CMake: I'm not familiar with it, and if this lands in the code I doubt I'll be able to maintain it. I'll get back to it once I know more.

No worries! CMake is pretty easy to use and low-maintenance. The nice part is that it’s multiplatform and designed to support a wide range of environments including finding the build dependencies, etc. Let me know if you need explanations about any part of the code!
