Two fixes for mhoogenbosch/PiPup#76 (PiPup taking over the screen during Plex / Prime Video on a TCL).

No Install popup while Home Assistant updates (app ≥ 0.30.1, mhoogenbosch/PiPup#82)

  • Every request carries X-HA-PiPup-Auto-Update: on|off once the first /state is in. on only when the nightly update can install on that TV by itself (switched on, and ADB or a silent app self-update).
  • That test is now one function, auto_update_installs() in adb.py; the nightly tick uses it too.
  • The coordinator sets it after every /state, so an options change counts from the next poll without a reload.

TCL keep-alive example in the README

  • The restart (open PiPup, press Home) now runs only while the launcher is in front (app_id of the Android TV media player). The old condition only skipped playing, and the Android TV integration decides that per app.
  • With no app_id while the TV is off, the condition also stops the automation from switching the screen on at night.
  • The section now starts with the app's accessibility service, which usually makes the automation unnecessary.

Tests

  • test_auto_update_installs (7 cases) and test_auto_update_header (header left out until known, on/off, follows an options change on the next refresh).
  • 143 passed locally.

… on the home screen (PiPup #76)

Every request carries X-HA-PiPup-Auto-Update: on|off once the first /state is in.
"on" only when the nightly update can install on that TV by itself; the nightly
tick now asks the same function (auto_update_installs). App >= 0.30.1 then skips
its own Install popup, whose button took the remote's focus mid-film.

README: the TCL keep-alive example runs only while the launcher is in front
(app_id), not whenever the TV is not "playing", and starts with the accessibility
service, which usually makes it unnecessary.
