Call us or e-mail us today for all your logistics and transport needs. We work 24/7 to assist you to take your goods and people to all destinations in East Africa!! Dynamic provides freight services and logistics solutions to individuals and businesses in the Eastern African region. The business is located at Akaki-kality sub-city, woreda 07, Debrezeit road, Addis Ababa.
At the time of our market entry at the freight Agent business in Addis Ababa in 2010, the cargo industry still almost exclusively relied on informal brokers-based processes to facilitate the domestic and international movement of freight. The average shipment generated tremendous documents and several brokers that were used and/or handled by the various parties involved: shippers, freight forwarders, and ground handling agents, Airlines/water/rails/roads, customs brokers, customs and other government authorities. These brokers-based processes were not cost-effective and did not serve well the key requirements of cargo: quality, efficiency, security and speed. I do not mean things are different today; they are still as they were like the year 2010.
Therefore, our freight agent business was started, with the vision of transforming the process of freight transportation by at least three modes of transport into a centrally manageable highly-speedy process, where all the required information is speedily and safely exchanged between all parties involved, both B2B, GOCO (B2G), B2C, and to take on intermediary roles for the enhanced transport logistics system coordination and movement rapidity, so that the industry to become primary driver of development for all.
This is an ambitious goal, encompassing complex legal, regulatory, technical and business process components, for a global and complex cargo supply chain.
BACGROUND AND HISTORY Due to its presence since 2010 in transport business operation, the company has gained sufficient industry experience and has noted several constraints in the sector. These constraints aggravated the transporting cargo to remain very much inefficient, due to the regulatory environment, new demands for documentation due to security and safety focus, and constraints and limitation in logistics coordination system, supply chain management and technological capabilities.
In 2012, a Dynamic internal innovation effort identified centralized transportation business opportunity again as a way to look into, and in December 2013, the company mandated Independent management consulting firm to lead a project whose aim was to take industry problems out of the logistics supply chain, turning the problems into benefits for all. At that time, freight was formally defined as one of the business under the umbrella of the Business Linkage Program, aimed at improving the processes of logistics supply chain for the roads transportation. Though the initiative identified great business possibilities for private sector engagement, moving forward with that respect was hardly possible due to poor institutional setting and low level understanding of system level business deals by those in the enabling seats.
Waiting for the right moment to present what we wished for, refilling ourselves with elevated passion and motivation to do wondrous ways, the company again invited the same company (who is now a partner) in 2015 to conduct project feasibility and market study, that had to be carried out, which determined that the environment should now allow the project to be carried to success. In particular, new information technologies, including internet, as well as new national and international collaboration, engagement of professional team and use of standardized system of operation were identified as key factors that should allow such an initiative to succeed.
Between 2015-2017, the company focused on the following key tasks:
⦁ In 2016 a large pilot was conducted in parallel in a location to prove feasibility and define the initial business process (Addis Ababa). This led to the first effective system of shipments coordination being moved in February 2016.
⦁ Expanding the scope of its business program and locations where freight service was feasible, from the initial single location, via a focused advocacy effort targeting Customs authorities and governmental authorities at federal level. ⦁ Designing and developing the missing business processes and standards to enable the project to be conducted for a progressively larger set of shipments and effective market network leadership. ⦁ By the end of 2018, 4 locations (countries or administrative areas) will live on freight and several operations standards will be developed.
