@tgbugs not sure if that is the definition we should use for this term. that seems a community specific interpretation, maybe the umbrella approach would be better here?

This is likely more generic than just a subset of imaging techniques. This almost rises to the level of a experimental approach because it does not specify any concrete technique but instead describes an entire family of techniques that correlate some measurement of physiology, function, activity, etc. with anatomy or anatomical location.

We think that this probably also includes cases where only the anatomy itself is mapped, that is, e.g. a structural MRI would count as brain mapping.
