I'm hopeful one day I'll have code here thats actually useful for advancing humanity to the stars, but in the meantime, it's just some odd projects and this neat little bio
TLDR:
- ๐พ FOSS and self-hosting advocate
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Hardware enthusiast and maker
- โ๏ธ Additive manufacturer
- ๐ญ Astronomer and photographer
- ๐ Spaceflight enjoyer
- ๐ Environmentalist and Right to Repair
I've been messing around with self-hosting for a while now. I've got TrueNAS going on a server I put together (messing with computer hardware is awesome), and I've grown to love Home Assistant so much that I even set up a server for my school! Electronics projects are fun, with making IoT devices and LED lighting being my main focuses. I find 3D printing to be incredibly enjoyable, while I'll always have a soft spot for Prusa printers (the XL is amazing), I'm just dying to build a tool-changing Voron 2.4 someday. If that wasn't enough, I spend my nights as an astronomer! I've got a 12" Dob that I refurbished out of someone's flooded basement, and a 6" mirror that I ground and parabolized myself! I also love taking photos, not just of celestial objects (nebulae, eclipses, etc.), but also things like the International Space Station (whether it's transiting the sun or a super-zoomed-in photo, it's one of my favorite targets!). I also take photos of things on Earth, primarily going to airshows or planespotting, but really anything that catches my eye. I've got an overwhelming knowledge of aerospace (with a heavy emphasis on that last half of the word) and more hours of Kerbal Space Program than I can count. Even though I turn my eyes to the stars, I don't give up any hope for the blue marble we call home. I try my best to go the extra mile, reducing, reusing, repairing, repurposing, and recycling as much as possible, even when it's more inconvenient to do so, and make sure its done properly. I'm thorough in as many areas as I can be, collecting aluminum cans from anywhere they're left over and getting them to the scrapyard, I take care to make sure not just Li-ions but all of my e-waste doesnt end up in a landfill, and I'm starting to turn plastic bottles into filament so I can print sustainably! Despite all this, my one area of lacking is in programming. Most of my experience is in Python (and it's not much), but who knows, maybe someday this place will be full of cool shit...
