About the Website

Smart Legion Lab is a software research and development laboratory founded by Alexander Suvorov and his team. This website serves as the central hub for all lab activities, presenting:

  • 90+ open-source projects across multiple programming languages
  • 33+ libraries
  • 4 foundational research paradigms with DOI publications
  • 7 cross-platform ecosystems (Smart Passwords, 2FA Management, NP Problem, etc.)
  • 36+ applications (Desktop, Web, Mobile, CLI, Telegram Bots)
  • Team of two (Alexander Suvorov Sr. & Jr.)

The site is designed to be a static, secure, and comprehensive showcase that requires no database, no backend, and can be hosted anywhere with zero maintenance overhead.

Extra Features

Beyond the main sections, the website includes two unique interactive features.

Developer Console

A fully functional terminal embedded in the site, accessible via the "Console" button in the bottom-left corner.

Features:

  • Password Generation:
    • smartpass - Deterministic password generation from a secret phrase
    • randpass - Cryptographically secure random password
  • Utilities:
    • calc - Mathematical expression evaluator
    • demo - Visual demo of the lab's work
    • map - Launch to the 3D Site Map
    • clear / history - Terminal management
  • Mini-Game: dino - Chrome Dino-style game
  • Command History: Navigate with ↑/↓ arrows

3D Interactive Site Map ("Universe")

An immersive 3D visualization of the entire website, accessible via the "Site Map" link in the footer or the map command.

3D Site Map Screenshot

Features:

  • Visual Hierarchy:
    • The Sun - Homepage (central node)
    • Planets - Main sections (Research, Projects, etc.)
    • Moons - Individual pages within each section
  • Interactive Controls:
    • Drag to rotate camera
    • Scroll to zoom in/out
    • Click any object to send your "ship" to it
    • Double-click to open details modal with direct link
  • History Panel: Tracks journeys of three users through the universe
  • Live Stats: Section and page counts are computed from an inline UNIVERSE_DATA manifest in js/universe.js (no sitemap.xml fetch)

Adaptive Background System

The site ships an adaptive background engine that selects the right visual for the right context - desktop, mobile, or specific pages - without loading unnecessary scripts.

How it works:

  • js/background-dispatcher.js is the single entry point.
  • It inspects the page context (device type, viewport, pathname) and loads exactly one of the available engines.
  • Only the required engine is fetched at runtime; the others are never downloaded on that device.
  • Adding a new engine means adding a rule to the dispatcher's RULES array, no changes to the dispatcher logic itself.

Rules (priority order, first match wins):

Context Engine File
Mobile device (UA / touch / narrow viewport) TSP traveling-salesman animation js/tsp-background.js
Path matching /projects/i Self-typing console session log js/console-background.js
Everything else (desktop) Floating tech words on canvas js/particle-background.js

Engines:

  • TSP Background - white dots drift slowly, a greedy route is built periodically (nearest neighbor) and animated with a glowing traveler leaving a fading trail. Cheaper than the particle engine: no fillText, no O(n²) per frame. Route is built once per cycle.
  • Console Background - self-typing coherent session log with five scenarios (research, smartpasslib, TSP, 2FA, infrastructure), randomly picked per session. Uses only DOM + CSS. Loads on mobile and on the projects page.
  • Particle Background - floating tech words on canvas with color coding (paradigms yellow, security red, languages cyan), edge fade, breathing opacity, and soft repulsion. Loads on desktop pages that are not projects.

Shared behaviour across all engines:

  • Activated only when <div id="background-trigger" hidden></div> is present on the page.
  • prefers-reduced-motion is respected - animation stops completely.
  • visibilitychange pauses the animation when the tab is hidden.
  • Mobile scroll and address bar resize do not cause jitter.
  • orientationchange is handled with a short delay so the engines recompute layout after the browser updates innerWidth/innerHeight.

Adding a new engine:

  1. Create js/your-background.js as a self-contained module.
  2. Add a rule to RULES in js/background-dispatcher.js:
{
    test: function (ctx) { return ctx.matchesPath(/your-section/i); },
    engine: 'your-background.js'
}
  1. That's it - no other changes needed.
