💡 What:
Updated non-canonical URLs pointing to the Contributor Covenant inside CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md and profile/CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md to use their canonical trailing-slash forms:

  1. https://www.contributor-covenant.org/version/2/0/code_of_conduct.html -> https://www.contributor-covenant.org/version/2/0/code_of_conduct/
  2. https://www.contributor-covenant.org -> https://www.contributor-covenant.org/

🎯 Why:
Visiting non-canonical URLs triggers an HTTP 301 Redirect from the destination server. In a documentation-only or profile-only repository context, this incurs an extra network round-trip (RTT) for users seeking the Code of Conduct or homepage. Using canonical URLs eliminates this extra redirect, significantly speeding up navigation under high-latency connections.

📊 Impact:

  • Saves exactly 1 network round-trip (RTT) per link click by bypassing the HTTP 301 Redirect.
  • Implemented in under 5 lines of code across two Markdown files.

🔬 Measurement:
Run the following curl command to observe that the updated URLs directly return HTTP 200 OK without redirects:
curl -Is https://www.contributor-covenant.org/version/2/0/code_of_conduct/ | grep HTTP
curl -Is https://www.contributor-covenant.org/ | grep HTTP

PR created automatically by Jules for task 10046536257443711137 started by @soktri3

Updated non-canonical Contributor Covenant URLs in Code of Conduct files to use trailing slashes and the canonical path, avoiding unnecessary HTTP redirects and reducing round-trip latency.

Code Review

This pull request updates the Contributor Covenant URLs in both CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md and profile/CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md to use trailing slashes instead of .html extensions. The reviewer pointed out that the trailing period after the new URLs might be incorrectly parsed as part of the link by some Markdown parsers, and suggested wrapping the URLs in angle brackets to prevent broken links.

Important

The consumer version of Gemini Code Assist on GitHub is being sunset. Starting June 18, 2026, new organization installations will be blocked, and all code review activity will officially cease on July 17, 2026.

The trailing period immediately following the URL (/code_of_conduct/.) might be parsed as part of the URL by some Markdown parsers, leading to broken links or 404 errors. Wrapping the URL in angle brackets <...> ensures that the trailing period is correctly treated as punctuation rather than part of the URL path.
