Fixed in commit 75f9a58. Native macOS menus now refresh immediately after SheetApp::ui, so language changes take effect without waiting for another input event. I also incorporated changes from @Titoun12’s #2310 : corrected MAX.SI.ENS/MIN.SI.ENS names, French error literals in formulas, and the test checking function-name coverage and uniqueness. Thanks @Titoun12! All 8 CI checks pass, including the AppKit menu localization test. |

Hi NaviStorm, I wanted to share the results of the French Excel testing I contributed earlier, in case they're useful when integrating the French dialect into the new structure introduced by #1522. I tested French function names and formula behavior in both Excel 2013 and Excel 2024, including how changing only the Windows regional format affects argument and decimal separators, array constants, and "TEXTE" format codes. You can find the earlier test results here:
For example, with the French regional format, "=SOMME(1,5;2)" returns "3,5", and "=TEXTE(DATE(2026;3;15);"jj/mm/aaaa")" returns "15/03/2026", while the equivalent "dd/mm/yyyy" format returns "#VALEUR!". I hope these real-world Excel results are helpful when validating the French implementation. Thanks for your work on this! |
This PR adds French formula localization and fixes menus that remained in English despite the selected interface language.
Adds French Excel names for all 514 recognized function names, including names that remain unchanged in French.
Supports French formula entry, display, autocomplete and insertion, with decimal commas and semicolon argument separators.
Preserves canonical English syntax for stored formulas, XLSX files and engine/API calls.
Connects macOS native menus to the existing translation catalog at startup and when the interface language changes. This benefits every supported language where translations exist.
Adds 69 missing French menu labels and localizes the quick-access commands menu.
The implementation reuses the existing localization infrastructure. Formula help text and parameter descriptions retain their existing language fallback.
Validation: all eight cargo xtask ci checks passed, including tests and WebAssembly. Added coverage checks formula round trips, XLSX persistence, autocomplete, and live French/English switching of the actual macOS menus through AppKit.
