The command should be `apt full-upgrade` to remove any packages that aren't available in the new version. Also added a checkpoint step in case an emergency rollback is needed.

Good catches! The full-upgrade fix is important — plain apt upgrade can leave behind stale packages after a release upgrade. And adding the checkpoint beforehand is a nice safety net. LGTM!
