Anonymity refers to the protection of a user’s identity, behavior, patterns, and overall digital footprint.

All development for Aegis is not due at least until the Bill is almost in Act, and the Main Components of the Operating System are in stable condition. Currently, as it stands, Progress is currently being put into YaWC (Yet another Wayland Compositor)
I plan on making the whole system from the ground up in rust and c, all except the Kernel, which to no surprise, is the Linux Kernel.

Assembly Bill No. 1043 is part of a growing wave of legislation aimed at increasing accountability and safety in digital spaces. While its exact provisions may evolve, efforts like this typically focus on stronger identity requirements, increased platform responsibility, and expanded monitoring or reporting mechanisms.
In practice, this often means reducing the ability for users to remain anonymous online.
While the Bill is often introduced with good intentions, they come with serious trade-offs.

Loss of anonymity
Requiring stronger identity verification removes the ability for users to separate their real-world identity from their online presence. -
Increased surveillance risk
More data collection creates larger targets for misuse, leaks, or abuse—whether by corporations or other entities. -
Chilling effect on expression
When anonymity is weakened, people are less likely to speak freely, especially in sensitive, political, or personal contexts. -
Centralization of control
Systems that require identity and tracking shift power away from users and toward platforms and regulators.
Policies that reduce or eliminate anonymity don’t just affect users—they fundamentally conflict with what Linux and open systems stand for.

Linux has always been about control, choice, and independence. Systems that require identification contradict those principles at a fundamental level.
In short, reducing anonymity doesn’t just impact individual privacy—it threatens the open, decentralized model that Linux and the broader open-source world depend on.
Aegis is built to counter these trends at the system level.
Instead of relying on external tools or afterthought protections, Aegis integrates privacy and anonymity directly into the operating system itself:

Aegis does not exist to break laws or avoid accountability.
It exists to ensure that users retain control over their identity, their data, and their ability to exist anonymously in a digital world where that ability is increasingly under pressure.
