[MEDIUM] minimatch 10.2.4 vulnerable to GHSA-g3hv-75wg-m249

  • Location: pnpm-lock.yaml — transitive via @typescript-eslint/typescript-estree → minimatch@10.2.4
  • Tool: pnpm audit --audit-level=low
  • Rule: CWE-1333 (Inefficient Regular Expression Complexity) / GHSA-g3hv-75wg-m249
  • Risk: ReDoS via globparts amplification. minimatch is reached through ESLint's config glob matching, so a crafted pattern in a config file or a dependency's file list can stall the lint job.
  • Fix: Override minimatch to ^11.0.1 (resolves to 11.0.4, the patched line).

minimatch@11 ships a dual CJS/ESM build (exports.require → dist/commonjs), so the CJS consumers — @eslint/config-array and @eslint/eslintrc, which previously pulled minimatch@3.1.5 — keep working.

[LOW] Stale audit suppression hides a HIGH-severity advisory class

  • Location: pnpm-workspace.yaml (removed auditConfig.ignoreGhsas)
  • Tool: manual review + pnpm audit with the suppression removed
  • Rule: CWE-1059 (Incomplete Documentation) / CI gate policy
  • Risk: GHSA-3ppc-4f35-3m26 is a high-severity minimatch ReDoS, and pnpm audit --audit-level=high in pull-request.yml would block on it. The suppression meant the gate silently ignored that advisory class. Its justification named @vscode/vsce, which is not a dependency of this repo, and no minimatch version in the tree fell in the GHSA's vulnerable ranges (<3.1.3, >=4.0.0 <4.2.4, … >=10.0.0 <10.2.1) — so it hid nothing. Removing it restores the gate without changing the current result.

Verification

$ pnpm install --frozen-lockfile
Done in 8.7s using pnpm v10.34.6

$ pnpm audit --audit-level=high
1 vulnerabilities found
Severity: 1 low
(exit 0)

$ pnpm lint
(no output — clean)

$ pnpm test
Test Files  10 passed (10)
     Tests  151 passed (151)

$ pnpm run build
✔ done

$ pnpm check
COMPLETED 1485 FILES 0 ERRORS 1 WARNINGS

ESLint's linted file set was compared before and after the override and is unchanged (78 files both times) — the override does not narrow lint scope.

Remaining finding (not fixed here)

deepmerge@4.3.1 — GHSA-gcqx-w48m-w2h4 (low, prototype pollution in mergeObject). No patched version exists upstream (patched: <0.0.0); deepmerge@4.3.1 is the latest release. Reached only through @sveltejs/vite-plugin-svelte (build-time). Not gating: pnpm audit --audit-level=high passes.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Updated security audit coverage so a previously excluded security advisory is now included in audit results.
    • Updated a workspace package version constraint. These changes do not add or remove end-user features.

minimatch 10.2.4 (transitive, via @typescript-eslint/typescript-estree)
is affected by GHSA-g3hv-75wg-m249 (moderate): ReDoS via globparts
amplification. Fixed in 11.0.1.

Override minimatch to ^11.0.1, which resolves to 11.0.4 and clears the
finding. minimatch 11 ships a dual CJS/ESM build, so the CJS consumers
(@eslint/config-array, @eslint/eslintrc) keep working.

Also remove auditConfig.ignoreGhsas for GHSA-3ppc-4f35-3m26. That GHSA
covers minimatch <10.2.1 and none of the minimatch versions in this tree
fell in its vulnerable ranges, so the suppression hid nothing while
carrying a justification naming @vscode/vsce, which is not a dependency.
Removing it restores the high-severity gate for that advisory class.

pnpm audit --audit-level=high: 1 low (deepmerge, no upstream patch), exit 0.
