Getting Started (V2)
This guide will walk you through installing and setting up your new favorite Dalamud plugin.
Note: this guide assumes that you have already installed XIVLauncher. If you haven't, and you're currently playing on a vanilla copy of the game, you'll need to download and install XIVLauncher first.
KinkShell is currently distributed via a custom Dalamud repository. You need to add this repo to your game in order to install the plugin. If you already know how to do this, feel free to add the following to your list and skip this section.
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/CatboyEngineering/Plugins/main/repo.json
If none of that makes sense to you, keep reading.
Open the Dalamud plugin installer, and click on "Settings" at the bottom.
Scroll all the way to the bottom, and in the first available textbox, add the CatboyEngineering plugin repository link:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/CatboyEngineering/Plugins/main/repo.json
Remember to save your changes, and then head back to the plugin installer.
After adding the custom repository, return to the plugin window and use the search box to find KinkShell.
Use /kinkshell to confirm that the plugin opens and works as expected.
Congrats! You've now installed the plugin. Keep reading to finish setting up your KinkShell.
In order to connect you with other users, and for safety/verification purposes, you'll need to verify your character on the Lodestone. This is a one-time process, and takes less than 5 minutes.
In the KinkShell menu, choose "Get Started."
KinkShell will then display a randomly-generated code called a Verification Token. Copy this code, and then head over to the FFXIV Lodestone in your web browser. You need to add this code to your Character Profile Bio, as shown below:
The code displayed above is provided as example.
Once added, return to KinkShell and click "Verify" to check the token. If everything is successful, you have successfully logged in!
Part of what makes KinkShell so powerful is its ability to process adult toy commands via Bluetooth. If you would like to connect your own toys, this section is for you.
⭐ If you don't want to connect any toys to KinkShell, you can skip this step. You can still issue commands to other users' toys!
KinkShell requires Intiface Central to connect you to your toys. This third-party program uses Bluetooth to pair your devices to your computer. You will need to install Intiface, as well has have Bluetooth capability on your computer, in order for this to work.
🛟 Intiface Central has a great Getting Started guide if you encounter any issues. The KinkShell devs cannot offer support for Intiface, so we recommend checking their docs if needed.
It is recommended to connect your toys to Intiface first, as a test, before proceeding.
At the top of the Intiface window, you will see a big "play" button, as well as a server address. When using KinkShell, make sure the "play" button has been clicked. This means that Intiface is running and can send instructions to your devices.
Inside the KinkShell menu, click on the Configuration button, and open the Intiface tab. Adjust the Address field, if necessary, to match what is displayed in Intiface Central. Click "Save and Close" to apply your changes.
You're ready to use KinkShell!
