chore: harden Dependabot coverage and scheduling - #55
I did not disclose a vulnerability; security reports go privately to security@subhrodip.com.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added automated security analysis for Java/Kotlin, Python, and GitHub Actions, with scheduled and on-demand runs.
Changes to the invalid-subject OIDC test fixture now select the edge end-to-end test stream.
Added pip dependency update coverage for the OIDC test fixture.
Improvements
Dependency updates now run weekly at 09:00 Vienna time. Docker update coverage is best-effort; SBOM validation remains the check for container version drift.
Documentation
Updated CI and security documentation with analysis coverage, scheduling, and fork pull request safeguards.
This PR adds a CodeQL workflow for Java/Kotlin, Python, and GitHub Actions. It updates Dependabot schedules and OIDC fixture pip coverage. Changes to that fixture now select the edge E2E stream. Documentation and task records describe these updates and pending CodeQL hosted evidence.
Changes: CodeQL analysis

Summary
Analysis workflow .github/workflows/codeql.yml
The workflow runs on pushes and pull requests to master, weekly, and on manual dispatch. Its matrix analyzes Java/Kotlin, Python, and GitHub Actions. The Java/Kotlin lane uses Java 25 and Gradle to compile production and test sources before analysis.
Operations and task records docs/operations/ci.md, docs/security/supply-chain-evidence.md, docs/tasks/board.md, docs/tasks/details/OPS-33.md, docs/tasks/progress.md, docs/tasks/registry.yaml
Documentation describes fork-PR security boundaries and staged merge protection. Task records capture validation results; hosted runs, alert triage, and ruleset evaluation remain pending.

Summary
Schedules and package coverage .github/dependabot.yml, docs/operations/ci.md, docs/tasks/details/DOC-28.md, docs/tasks/progress.md, docs/tasks/registry.yaml
The configured ecosystems use weekly 09:00 Europe/Vienna schedules, and their open pull request limits are removed. A pip configuration covers the standalone OIDC fixture with minor and patch updates grouped. Documentation and task records describe Docker coverage as best-effort and retain make sbom-validate as the container-version drift guard.
Changes under tests/fixtures/invalid_subject_oidc/ select the edge E2E stream. The test checks that verification, product, and chaos execution are disabled while edge execution is enabled.
ohbus/squarewise#19: This PR refines the Dependabot configuration by changing schedules, adding OIDC fixture pip coverage, and documenting Docker coverage limitations.
Merge Risk: Low · up to b4a66
The routing change works as documented. Adding a sibling-file test would protect directory-wide coverage, but this narrow testing gap does not need to block merging.

Explanation
The title "chore: harden Dependabot coverage and scheduling" matches only part of the changeset. The PR also adds a CodeQL workflow and CodeQL documentation, routes OIDC fixture changes to the edge E2E stream, and increases the CodeQL Gradle heap. The title is partially related: it covers the Dependabot changes, which are a real part of the change, but it omits the main CodeQL addition, which the PR objectives treat as a primary goal.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the template. It has an Objective with linked tasks, a Changes list, Validation commands with exact results, a Risk and compatibility section covering public contracts, data, security, operations, and accessibility, and a completed checklist. The Objective links the related tasks but does not use the template's 'Closes #' form. The pending hosted CodeQL run and fork-PR evidence are stated clearly.
Full details: Docstring Coverage
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 50.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 2 functions across 2 files. (5 skipped: 5 unsupported.)
Resolution
Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

The new pip entry creates automated dependency-update PRs, but requirements-only changes select no E2E stream. The existing negative OIDC check builds and exercises the fixture only when run_edge is enabled. Add the fixture path to the edge E2E scope or add a dedicated fixture check so dependency updates receive validation.
This is a pre-existing coverage gap, not a regression introduced in this PR.

Fixed the valid nitpick in dcddad9c: changes under tests/fixtures/invalid_subject_oidc/ now select the edge E2E stream, with a typed regression test and synchronized CI documentation. The CodeQL OOM fix is in d0a463bc; the branch was pushed at b4a66837 and the replacement hosted runs are now queued.
Add a test for a non-requirements file under the OIDC fixture directory.
The new test only checks tests/fixtures/invalid_subject_oidc/requirements.txt. An implementation that matches only that exact path would pass it. A later change to a different file in the same fixture directory, such as server.py, could then stop selecting the edge E2E stream without any test failing.
The current _e2e_streams uses a directory-prefix rule, so the current behavior is correct. The gap affects only future regression detection. The documented contract in docs/operations/ci.md is directory-wide. Add a second case that uses a sibling file from the same fixture directory:

Review comment at @tests/tools/test_changed_scope.py at line 45:
Add a separate test alongside the existing OIDC requirements-file case that
passes a sibling file such as server.py from tests/fixtures/invalid_subject_oidc
to compute_scope. Assert that it selects the edge E2E stream while leaving
verification, product, and chaos runs disabled.
