Currently, the project uses two features to represent a binary state. This setup causes issues with Cargo and other tooling, which do not handle features well when they don't coexist. For the next major version, refactor the feature flags to use a single feature representing the binary state.
This will improve maintainability and compatibility with standard Rust tooling.
Context: The current jankiness was observed while working on the publish dry run build (see commit 5588e84).
Steps:
- Plan and document the migration path for this breaking change.
- Refactor feature flags to use a single feature for binary state.
- Update documentation and examples.
- Test Cargo and related tooling for compatibility after the change.
