The PoetsBar is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience. To that end, navigation and footers will be used to enhance user experience and SEO.

Requirements

1. Navigation and Footers conform to WC3 Accessibility Guidelines.

2. Navigation and Footers are used to influence ranking and SEO.

   1. Each page should focus on one topic or key-phrase.

   2. Navigation labels will be descriptive and use key words.

3. Drop downs have been shown to be annoying and cause visitors to skip important material.

   1. Drop downs will be avoided when possible.

4. Short term memory only holds seven items plus or minus two.

   1. Navigation should be limited to 5-7 items.

   2. If more items are necessary, they will be chunked into groups of no more than 7 items each.

5. Special attention will be payed to which items are the first and the last navigation items.

6. Navigation needs to be studied and modified.

   1. Use Analytics: “navigation summary” or “in-page” view in the Behavior report.

   2. After analyzing visitor activity, navigation may need to be modified.

7. Navigation for mobile devices.

   1. add the word menu to the hamburger icon.

   2. Phone numbers turn into buttons that dial the number when tapped.

8. Footer content to be determined. possibilities include:

   1. Privacy policy, Terms of use.

   2. Link to contact info form.

   3. Number for Don’t Drink and Drive Taxi! (Tap to Dial).

   4. Company contact info.

   5. Social media icons.

   6. Log in.

   7. Site search tool.
