Deflate is kind of broken. Not sure what I did wrong there.

I know, but I am still waiting for it to be updated in the main zig repo as well.

There is a small problem with the x86_64 backend resulting in incorrect lighting when breaking a block (see ziglang/zig#26008) which is why I'll still disable it for now.
However I'd encourage you to enable it locally, from my testing so far it appears to be usable for everything else.

As for incremental compilation, there are still some problems with the link, so we'll have to revisit this in the future.

Could someone who actually uses windows test this for me?

I think we should wait a few more days until ziglang/zig#26014 is fixed to fix the windows timer issue. There already is a PR for that open.

Alright, honestly, given the already present changes, I don't want to wait another month and rebase before updating this, so we just go for it with the following caveats:

  • broken ReleaseSafe on Windows
  • a weird hack on Windows to make the timer work
  • broken Windows aarch64 support
  • (did I already mention Windows problems?)
  • a weird hack on Linux to make ReleaseSafe work
  • x86_64 backend disabled by default, but it could be usable and I'll probably enable it for myself locally

The calculation for how long the server thread should sleep was broken
by #2009. This fixes it.
